Thoughts on Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday!!

I hope you all had a great weekend - ours was nice and relaxing, which I loved!  I couldn't pick one topic to blog about today, so you get a smorgasbord of thoughts today :)

one:  I saw this video yesterday on Facebook of a baby who saw clearly for the first time with glasses - it was one of the cutest and heartwarming things I've ever seen.  Her face is the cutest when she realizes that she can see!

two:  Gilmore Girls is coming back!!!  Netflix announced that there will be four 90 minute episodes with the original cast - I'm so happy about this, I hated the way the series ended so it will be cool to get a glimpse of them now.

three:  I made Skinny Taste Maple and Dijon Chicken last night and it was AMAZING!  My husband and the kids loved it and it was so easy - less than 5 ingredients and it cooks in the Crock Pot - talk about a winner, you need to try it!

four:  We're off to Disney in a couple of days!  We're surprising E, she has no clue!  When we pick her up from school, her bags will be packed and off we'll go.  I can't wait to see her face and I'm hoping we can go by the Food and Wine festival in EPCOT for at least a little bit, the food is always so good!

five:  My booties from DSW came in on Saturday  - they are so pretty and are very comfortable!  I wore them that night to dinner and was in love!  They're still on sale, scoop them up before it's too late - you can't beat the price!

Ok, that's I'll I have for today - have a great day!

I Vow To...

Having a husband that's a fireman I'm used to hearing sad stories, but yesterday when asking how his day went the stories hit a little close to home...

There was a two year old that drowned, which physically made me nauseous when I heard.  I can't imagine being the parents of that poor child, how do you live after something so tragic happens?  Then one of his co-worker's sons committed suicide, which was yet another punch in the stomach for me.  I just saw the boy a couple of months ago at my husband's pinning ceremony for work - so crazy how you're here one day and gone the next.  It makes me so sad for him, and his parents who are dealing with their loss.

I automatically put myself in the shoes of these parents.  I'm so heartbroken for them - but it also helps put things in perspective.  It makes you realize that your problems aren't that big... and that most of the times that you lose your patience as a parent, most likely the reason isn't that big of a deal and there are parents who have lost their children and are wishing that their patience were being tested by their child - they'd do anything to have their child back.

So today I vow to....
  • Hug my kids a little tighter
  • Tell them I love them more
  • Listen more intently to them
  • Put down my phone more
  • Smother them in kisses
  • Play with them more
  • Treasure all of their artwork and flowers they pick for me
  • Treasure the mess
  • Appreciate the noise
  • Bottle up the sound of their laughter
  • Cuddle with them more
  • Never take them for granted

Thursday's Thoughts

Good Morning!

Currently I'm in my jammies, drinking a hot cup of coffee with white chocolate macadamia nut creamer - so good!  I don't really have that much to say, so I'll just fill you in on the few thoughts going on in my mind.

Dinner:  Yes, I'm one of those people that thinks of dinner as soon as I get up and I'm not even the one that cooks most of time.  It's cool here today (in the 40's) so I'm craving some comfort food - like eggplant parmesan or a hearty soup.  I've already planted the seed in my chef's aka hubby's mind ;)

Kids:  Who knew that brother/sister fighting started so young?!  They both want the same toy.  J breaks his sister's Lego creations all of the time and all hell breaks loose... fun times!  Let's not mention the terrible 2 tantrums!

Pictures:  Our family pics were delayed again until the beginning of Feb, oy.  I decided to go into JcPenny for some pictures because there was a cheap Groupon, like $25 cheap - thank goodness because they did a terrible job!  The woman didn't even center the pictures and when I asked her to re-take a few, she couldn't because they book clients every 20 min and her next family was there.  She got a couple of cute shots, but needless to say, I'm glad I only paid $25!  I can't wait for our real family pics soon!

Gross! Well, the kids look cute - parents? Not so much!

Nails:  I painted my fingernails this week and I must say I'm loving having them painted.  I usually only do my toes, because since I wash my hands, wipe butts, do dishes, clean, ect. my nails always chip.  I did a light color and I think I'm going to paint them more often.  It makes me feel like part of me is put together and presentable at all times.

That's all folks! Have a great Thursday!
