Life Lately

Happy Wednesday!

Life has been so busy lately, I feel so behind in the blog world and promise to read your posts and respond to your comments asap!

It's been quite a while since I've done a life lately post - we haven't been up to anything earth-shattering, but I still love doing these posts every once in a while.  They're fun to look back on!

Little by little we've been trying to finish the kids rooms.  For E's room I'm going eclectic - I'm not doing any one "theme" but putting items that I think look cute together and making them work.  She loves her room, and has helped me pick out everything on her walls which has been fun!

We went to a picnic recently and there is a huge man-made hill (we live in Florida - we are hill-less here).  We trekked to the top and the kids and their friend sat and looked at the view.  The lighting was GORGEOUS so I had to snap a picture of these three amigos.  We had such a fun day spending it outdoors with gorgeous weather!

The sunsets lately have been killer!  Am I the only person that sees the walls in their house turn pink and immediately runs outside, camera in hand to take a picture of the sunset?  They are one of my favorite things, they always amaze me!

If you see this wine at your local store, pick it up!  It is beyond delicious.  Publix had it on sale the other day and we bought like 5 bottles #dontjudge.  Its such a smooth cab, and the flavors are perfect!

This little guy will be 4 in a few days and I can't even handle it.  He's getting so big and it makes me sad to think that soon he'll be in school.  We just finished cleaning up the playroom in this picture - which is why you can see the floor ;)

National Wine Day was last week, and I celebrated it the best way I knew how and partook.  Any holiday that encourages having a glass of wine is my kind of day!

I got my Steve Madden heels in the mail the other day from Nordstrom and I am in LOVE with them!  They are comfortable for being so high too.  If you get these buy them a half size bigger, they run small (thanks Lindsay!)

I also got my first subscription of RocksBox in the mail and to say I'm obsessed is an understatement.  I loved all of the pieces in my box, for it being my first order they got me spot on.  If you want to try out RocksBox enter code kidsandcabxoxo at checkout for one month free.  You can cancel at any time so there's no reason not to try it for at least a month.  I have no doubt you'll love it as much as I do.  I also love that you can keep the jewelry for as long as you'd like before sending it in for your new box!

I finally filled the wall in my formal living room that I've been trying to fill for almost 5 years!  I decided on a over-sized clock thanks to Katie who gave me the idea, and I love it!  I got it at Kirklands - you cannot beat the price for how huge it is!

I hope you all have a great day!  I'm off to catch up on my blog reading xo

Kids Summer Fashion

Happy Monday friends! I hope you all had a great weekend - ours was very low key, which was great!

I realized that while I'm always talking about fashion for me, I've left out fashion for the kiddies! I like to dress my kids comfy and cute (kinda like how I like to dress I guess). It's way too hot down here 95% of the time for anything frilly or socks!

My go to stores for both kids is usually Carter's, Target and GAP. They have the best prices and the best selections! I get so many pretty dresses for E at Target and I'm stopped constantly and asked where I got them - seriously, their clothes are good quality and hold up WELL!

Carter's Floral Embroidery Tunic Toddler Girls / Carter's Seahorse Printed Tee Toddler Girls / Hibiscus Tankini / Carter's Mint Jelly Sandals / Carter's Little Girls 4 Piece Snug Fit Cotton Sleeper Pajamas...

The same goes for my son, he wears A LOT of shorts and t-shirts, and I don't think the boy ever leaves the house without his Crocs on. Those are his go-to shoes, and I like them because he can easily put them on himself! #doublewin.

What are your go-to stores? Do you dress your kids similarly?

On another note, I'm getting a little tired of my blog design and looking for something pre-made on Etsy. Something that has social media icons, "pin it buttons" and basically the works, but for a decent price since obviously I get tired of my blog designs after about a year! Have any of you used any particular Etsy shops that you've liked?

This and That

Happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone had a fun weekend!  We did, we didn't have any plans since we were supposed to be out of town, but it ended up being a very fun weekend!

Friday started with an evening at one of my bestie's houses. Her husband grilled out and we had margaritas out of mason jars - perfection!

On Sunday we went to an anniversary dinner for some friends.  We had so much fun and it felt great getting out of the house without kids, gotta love some adult conversation!

Having Paris around has been fun and also challenging.  She's a great dog and knows all of her commands already, but it's like having 3 kids around!  Sometimes I second guess our decision to get a dog and then I catch moments like this that melt me.

I FINALLY bought E her quilt set.  I found an adorable one at Target that is a little girl in Paris (France, not the dog haha) and I think it goes adorable in her room!

Now we're moving on to buy one for J for his Star Wars room.  Sadly none of the Star Wars bedding we've found are really nice nice... except for Pottery Barn Kids (of course!) so we'll be saving to get him one of the ones from there.

How's that for a jumbled up post?!  Have a great day!

30 Ways You Know You're A Mom

In the five plus years I've had the privilege of being a mom, I've learned a lot.  Being a mom is a hard, hard job.  You are everything to your kids: doctor, therapist, chauffeur, confidant, friend, judge, cuddler, comforter, maid, cook - and the list goes on!

So how do you know when you've entered "mom status?"

You know you're a mom when...
  1. Having an audience while you use the bathroom is the norm
  2. Going to the store without the kids is a vacation
  3. You sit in the car for another 10-15 minutes after your "store vacation" before you go back into the house
  4. A glass of wine a night (or two) is needed
  5. You randomly find pacifiers, toys, hair ties and socks in your purse
  6. You haven't napped in years... like the really good naps
  7. You need coffee to survive
  8. You can hear the slightest noise your kid makes while you're in the middle of your deepest sleep
  9. Baby wipes are the solution for spills, stains, cleaning your iPad screen ect.
  10. You've hidden while eating sweets just to not share
  11. The ABC's are not only for learning purposes, but you use the song to teach your kids how long they should wash their hands
  12. You wake up and find children in your bed
  13. Bodily fluids no longer gross you out (when coming from your kids)
  14. You never leave the house without snacks
  15. You care about them more than yourself
  16. You have the ability to brush your teeth, wash your face, get dressed, and put makeup on in 5 minutes
  17. You talk about your kids 80% of the time you're out with your mom friends and/or your husband
  18. You catch yourself watching the Disney Channel after the kids have gone to bed
  19. You have kid selfies on your cellphone - most of which their heads are half cut off
  20. You say things your parents said
  21. You constantly wonder if you're doing a good job
  22. You find yourself negotiating with a toddler
  23. You make up stories just so they eat, sleep and poop
  24. Nothing sounds better than a date night or girl's night out
  25. You cry at every mom/kid related commercial
  26. You can experience the greatest joy and biggest headache at the same time
  27.  You can change a diaper in the dark in 10 seconds flat
  28. You know the songs to every Disney/PBS show
  29. Your iPad screen has finger prints and traces of food caked on the screen
  30. You love your kids more than anything in the world

What are some ways you know you're officially a mom?  Did I miss any?  I think this list could go one and on!

Happy Thursday!

Superhero Bash Recap

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I had to take yesterday off because I was pretty pooped from the weekend and had a lot of catching up to do around the house!

Saturday was a success!  The kids had so much fun at the party.  They loved the bounce house and running around.  The parents enjoyed dressing up just as much as the kids I think - there were a lot of them dressed up and even my husband and I joined in the fun.  I channeled my inner Halle Berry and was Storm and he was Wolverine.  It was hard to get pictures of the balloons and the whole set up because it was SO windy, the balloons were flying everywhere!  I did still go with this look:

Another fun thing was the photo booth my uncle built.  He stayed the whole party to take pictures of the kids with his fancy DSLR, I was so glad he was able to do do that for me so that I can treasure the pictures and memories for years to come.

Until the next party!  Have a great Tuesday!

Superhero Bash!

My kids are very into superhero's, they love watching and playing with anything that has to do with them.  For months now the kids have been asking me to throw them a superhero party for them and their little friends and if you know me at all by now, you know that I love any reason to throw a party so we gave in to the idea, and in a couple of weeks the kids' dream will come to fruition.

We decided to do it as a costume party because, is there anything cuter than seeing kids dressed up?  I have so many cute ideas for the party and am getting excited myself!

I want to keep the decor simple and also don't want to overdo it with superhero's everywhere, so this is how I envision the decor.  With that being said, do you know where I can find big 36 inch balloons?

crappy picture, but you get the idea

I ordered these invitations.  I'm HUGE on cute invitations for any party - I think it sets the tone for the party early on.

There will also be a photo-booth for the kids to pose with their costumes on - it's going to look something like this:

Then I plan to do touches around like these:

I think the kids will love it and have tons of fun.  There will also be a bounce house so that they sleep well that night, and a cotton candy machine!

Have any of you thrown a superhero party before?  Any ideas of anything else I can do?

Photo Dump!

Happy Tuesday!!  I hope all of you in the northeast are staying nice and warm (and safe!) during Juno.

I wanted to thank you all SO much for doing my survey last week.  I got a lot of insight on my posts and what you all like - also thank you for your sweet words in the comments!  If you haven't done the survey, please do so - I love hearing what you all have to say.  It's quick, I promise!

It's been a while since I've done a good ol' photo dump so here  we go...

I made some progress in my daughter's room and hung a few things over her bed.  I got most of the stuff from Hobby Lobby, and the bird mirror is a long time ago Pottery Barn Kids find.  Now I'm on the hunt for the perfect quit for her.

Speaking of the little cutie, she cracked me up the other night.  I put her hair in a bun, she put her glasses on and asked "Mom, ask me who I am" so, I did.  She replied with "I'm Taylor Swift!  Want my autograph?" haha.  I love her little personality, Taylor Swift is her favorite singer right now.  I think she won all kids over with Shake It Off!

We've been playing a lot of games recently, especially since we've all been sick - playdoh manicures, Operation, tea parties, and Hi Ho Cherry O.  The kids have been LOVING board games!

I tried this wine with my sister-in-law the other day and it was AMAZING!  If you ever see it, do yourself a favor and get a bottle!

A couple of weeks ago we took an evening stroll on the beach, and I got this beautiful shot.  Evenings spent walking on the beach are the best!

And lastly these two at Costco the other day.  While we were picking out wines they wanted to hold a bottle... so they became mommy's wine holders for the remainder of the Costco trip - as you can see they were pretty proud of themselves.

I hope you all have a great day!

Weekend Fun

I hope you all had a great weekend!  Ours was nice - just the perfect amount of things to do without it feeling like a "busy" weekend.

Friday night was girl's night out.  My sister-in-law, one of my very good friends and I got dressed up and went out to a piano bar.  It was the cutest little place.  We ate, drank wine and listened to the piano player for hours.  I stayed out way too late (we got home around 2) and boy was I paying for it the next day... I can't hang the way I used to.   It was such a great night - it's always fun to dress up and go somewhere with your girls.  I wore the TJ Maxx jumpsuit that I found thanks to Megan.  I love it, it feels like you're wearing pajamas and yet it's so cute!

Saturday we mostly hung around the house.  We took the kids bike riding and my little guy got the hang of it.  He was riding all around the cul-de-sac looking like such a big boy.  He's growing up too fast, and besides his pacifier addiction (which is SO hard to break, any suggestions?!)  there are no remnants left of baby.   He was so proud of himself on the bike and it was so cute to see him riding around.  After bike riding we went to my mother-in-law's for chicken wings and fries.

Yesterday again was spent at home, playing outside, and cooking dinner.  We made roasted chicken and Ina's Baked Potato Wedges - which were so simple and delicious - a must make!  Hubby and I ended the night with a bottle of champagne - pretty awesome if you ask me.

What were you all up to this weekend?  Have a great Monday, and yay for it being a short week!
