Clementine and Banana Smoothie

My kids have been huge into clementines lately, we seem to buy a big bag every week because they eat 3-4 a day EACH!  While on Pinterest, I found a smoothy recipe using clementines, bananas and oats - I figured the kids would enjoy not only drinking it, but helping me make it.  I was right!  The smoothy was delicious and perfect for breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup rolled oats
  • 4 clementine oranges peeled, seeded
  • 2 medium bananas
  • 2 cups unsweetened nondairy milk
  • 1 cup ice

Instructions

  1. In a drink mixer, blend the rolled oats on high until they have the fine texture of flour.
  2. Add clementines, banana, and nondairy milk. Blend on high for 15 seconds until smooth.
  3. Add ice for quick chilling. Serve and enjoy!
(I used our Vitamix, so I just added all of the ingredients and blended together, there was no need to blend twice - just a heads up for fellow Vitamix/Blentec owners)

This was a hit with the kids and kept me pretty satisfied for a while!  This would also be a great way to hide fruits for pickier kids - the oats give the smoothy a nice creamy consistency, kind of like a milk shake.

This sounds amazing! I've never had peanut butter and clementines together but they're two of my favorites so it has to be delicious!

Ooh yum. And clementines are so much easier to peel than a dang orange. Great idea!

I used to make smoothies all the time for breakfast and then I kinda got out of the habit of it. I need to get back into it!

That sounds really good! I wonder how adding chia seeds would be to help with the extra protein. Thanks for the share!
