Dreaming of a Big Girl Room

One thing I want to do in the near future is create a "big girl room" for E.  She has a full-sized bed a a few aspects of a big girl room, but I'm not digging the decor in the room.  When she was a newborn I decorated her old room (in our townhouse)  with the Penelope bedding from Pottery Barn Kids.  I loved it!  I thought it wasn't too "baby" and was so pretty and feminine.  My friend who is an artist painted a tree on her wall and replicated the birds from the bedding - it was gorgeous!

Once we moved here, her bedroom went from birds to owls to make it a little more grown up since she was getting her big girl bed.  It was an easy transition from the birds and Target had a cute owl set that I liked.  It was never done 100% to my liking and now, I'm kind of tired of the owls and want to change her room up again.  I want something that will grow with her until she's older and can decide what she likes.  Here's some inspiration for her room...

All three rooms are young, colorful and yet have an elegance to them.  I want to have her be a part of styling her room too so she feels involved, and maybe it will make her sleep in her bed ALL NIGHT LONG, girl comes into our bed every night and dominates it!

How have you decorated your little girl's room?  Do you make it look more kiddish, or do you decorate it in a way that they can grow with until they're older?

PS: Tomorrow is Wino Wednesday, don't forget to link up your favorite wines!

This is why I want to have girls, they have the cutest rooms! I already have my future daughter's room picked out. I don't know what in going to do if it's a boy!! Life as I know it

We redecorated Avery's room a few months ago (and are working on it again!) and let her pick EVERYTHING out. It definitely was the thing that started her sleeping in her bed after five years of waking up every single night. She doesn't do it every night, but a whole lot more than she used to. It's a great mommy/daughter project too!

Love all of these rooms!! I don't really have any advice but I think letting her help pick out stuff will make her love it even more and maybe you can get some sleep :)

I'm loving the last room. Really, all the rooms are fabulous. I'm itching to re-do Lily's room, but it is just committing to something she won't grow out of in a few years and that I won't get sick of seeing either. ha! Good luck mama!

Those are all beautiful! Just the right combo of girl and colour and elegance. I am not big into a 'kid' style...so these are right up my style alley. I think she'd love her big girl room.
