Day In The Life (May 2014)

I've always been fascinated by day in the life posts... I'm always so curious to see how other's spend their days/manage their time.

Seeing as this blog is my online memory book, I thought it would be nice to do a day-in-the-life post so that in the future I could look back and see what life was like with two little ones running around.  I warn you it will be long, and if you make it to the end, you're a trooper!

Day:  May 27th,2014

5:20 am - J wakes up I hear "mommy, I wanna go downstairs"  I go into his room and tell him that we aren't going to go downstairs, we are going to lay in E's bed (since it's empty because she comes to our bed every night at some point).  He's not too thrilled with the idea, but doesn't fight me.  We lay down, I dose off, but he doesn't.  He tosses, turns and rubs my arm to try falling asleep to no avail.

6:45 am - I finally give in and go downstairs.  I turn on the Keurig machine and give him his milk and put on Bubble Guppies, we hang out on the couch together for a bit, I'm still groggy.

7:10 am - JZ comes downstairs ready for work.  He's on shift today which means I'm by myself for 24 hours with the kids.  He kisses us goodbye.

7:20 am - E comes downstairs and plops herself next to us

7:30 am - I get up and make my glorious cup of coffee

I forgot to take the picture when the mug was full.  Just view this as "half full" instead of "half empty" :)

7:45 am - I turn on the computer and open up Blogger

7:50 am - I get the kid's breakfast ready. E is having a bowl of cereal and blueberries and J is having crackers with cream cheese and also a side of blueberries.

8:00 am - I go back to the computer and write my post on our Disney recap.

8:40 - 9:30 am- My post is done and up.  I make a phone call, then start playing with the kids.  I carry on a Barbie game and a superhero game.

9:35 am -  I make and eat breakfast (crackers and cream cheese) and have a second cup of coffee, which is very unusual for me, but waking up at 5:20 is no joke.  While eating I read some blogs.  The kids are still busy playing.

10:00 am - The kids and I head upstairs.  I make my bed, brush teeth, put on some easy makeup, throw on a t-shirt and jeans and then get the kids ready to go out.  We're going to the pet store to get a new bed for our cat Resee and since Target is next door, why not go there too?

10:45 am - We head out.  The kids have a blast in the pet store looking at all of the animals and of course I spend $50 in Target.  I found some cute mirrors for the family room, which I'm exited about!

Gray ombre mirrors

12:15 pm - We get home, and J is asleep - I'm bummed he fell asleep without eating lunch.  I bring him in and start on E and my lunch.

E has a grilled cheese and half of a peach and I have leftovers from our family BBQ from the weekend.

1:00 pm- E and I sit down and do her preschool.  We read a poem, learn about sounds, make things out of clay, do worksheets and trace letters.

2:00 pm - She plays with her Barbies and I check and respond to some emails

2:30 pm - I unload/load the dishwasher and clean up around the house.  I try to clean up the toys a few times a day so it doesn't get overwhelming.

3:00 pm - J wakes up from his nap.  It was a long one, which I'm grateful for because I got to get all that I wanted to done.  I bring him down and give him a Greek yogurt and half of a peach, he asks to watch Bubble Guppies again so I put it on.

3:30-5 pm - He gets cleaned up and I watch Dancing With The Stars Finale since I missed it when we were in Disney.  Both kids love the show so they pop in and out and watch a couple of minutes.  Once the show is over I vacuum downstairs.

5-5:45 pm - I prep and cook dinner.  We're having an asparagus and bacon bow-tie pasta (recipe to come soon).  The kids play while I prep and cook dinner and surprisingly don't fight too much.

5:50 -6:30 pm - Dinner is dished out and ready to eat.  I give the kids their food, I pour a glass of wine and we eat.  After we eat, I clean up.

6:35 - 7:25 pm - We head outside to play, the kids ride their bikes and we play on the play set

7:30 pm- We come inside, wash up and the kids eat a snack before bed - ice cream!

7:50-8:00 pm - We do our final toy cleanup and head upstairs for bath time

8:05 - Kids are in bathtub playing

8:35-8:55 - Both kids are in bed and asleep

9:05 - Shower time for mama!!

9:25 - I head downstairs, another glass is poured, I start on this post, and watch some TV

11:30 - Time for bed :)  hopefully everyone sleeps good!

This is a standard day for me when hubby is at work, it's not necessarily my most productive day, but it was a good day!
